This sacred trail is more than a pilgrimage — it is an enriching journey into peace, devotion, and Himalayan beauty. Each temple offers a unique charm, spiritual depth, and unforgettable moments to cherish for a lifetime.

Badrinath

Badrinath Temple

Situated at an altitude of 12,313 ft in Chamoli district, Badrinath is one of the most venerated Hindu shrines in India. Dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the temple radiates spiritual energy and natural beauty. Believed to have been established by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century and restored several times, it opens for devotees between May and November. During winter closure, the idol is shifted to Pandukeshwar.

Nearby, the famous hot water springs Tapt Kund and Surya Kund maintain a steady temperature of around 50°C, even in extreme cold. Taking a dip here before darshan is believed to purify both body and soul.

Adi Badri

Adi Badri Temple

Located about 9 miles from Karnaprayag, Adi Badri is part of a group of 16 temples tracing back to the Gupta period. It is believed that Maharishi Ved Vyas composed the Shri Mad Bhagwat Puran here. These temples were promoted by Adi Shankaracharya to spread the essence of Hinduism far and wide. The most favorable months to visit are May, June, August, and October.

Bhavishya Badri

Bhavishya Badri Temple

Nestled amidst thick forests near Tapovan, Bhavishya Badri offers mesmerizing views of lush valleys and greenery. Devotees can reach the temple by road till Saldhar, followed by a 6 km trek. Here, Lord Badrinarayan is worshipped in the form of an idol of Narsingh. The temple’s name — meaning “Future Badri” — is linked to a belief that in the future, this will be the main seat of Lord Badrinath.

Vridh Badri

Vridh Badri Temple

Vridh Badri (or Bridha Badri) lies in Animath village at an altitude of 4,530 m on the Joshimath-Badrinath route. According to legends, Lord Vishnu appeared here as an elderly man, and thus, the idol worshipped is in the form of an old sage. The temple remains open throughout the year and is about 3 miles from Joshimath, 264 km from Dehradun’s Jolly Grant Airport.

Yogdhyan Badri

Yogdhyan Badri Temple

Located in Pandukeshwar, Yogdhyan Badri stands at an altitude of 6,000 ft along the Joshimath road. The temple houses a bronze idol of Lord Vishnu in a meditative posture. As per mythology, King Pandu meditated here to atone for the sin of killing two mating deer, who were sages in their previous birth. This sacred site can be reached easily by road from Joshimath within an hour.
